How to get rid of a couch in Salt Lake City

The short answer

A standard three-seat sofa is $126 in Salt Lake City. That is the whole price: two people come to you, carry it out from wherever it sits, load it, and take it to the proper facility. There is no stair charge, no charge for a long carry down an Avenues front walk, no fuel add-on for a run out to the west-side landfill, and no re-quote when the crew sees the piece.

Other seating is priced the same way. A loveseat is $119. A recliner is $98. A sleeper sofa, which is the one with the steel frame and the folding mattress inside, is $149. A two-piece sectional is $141 and a three-piece is $185. The minimum for any visit is $75, so a single couch is comfortably its own job.

Why the price is set before anyone knocks

Most junk removal in the valley is still quoted the old way: a truck shows up, someone looks at your sofa, and a number appears. That number tends to grow when the sofa is on the third floor of a brick fourplex on 2nd Avenue with a half-turn landing at the bottom.
